#BeActive in Luxembourg

One of the measures in the European Union’s action plan for sport is the #BeActive initiative, centred around European Week of Sport, which takes place every year from 23 to 30 September. This initiative by the European Commission aims to encourage European citizens to take part in sporting activities, regardless of their age, social status or physical or athletic ability.

Since 2015, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg has actively participated in the European Week of Sport, an initiative aimed at encouraging people of all ages to be more physically active. In Luxembourg, the Ministry of Sport coordinates the national participation, with a particular focus on the organisation of the #BeActive Day, which brings together a range of sporting and physical activity initiatives across the country.

The #BeActive Day is organised in collaboration with local authorities, as well as partners from the sports sector, and provides an opportunity for the public to discover different sports and engage in physical activity.

The aim is simple: to encourage everyone to get moving, give things a go, have fun and adopt a more active lifestyle. By highlighting the richness and diversity of sporting opportunities in Luxembourg, #BeActive Day aims to inspire people of all ages to make sport a real pleasure in their daily lives.

Join us on Saturday 26 September 2026 in Pétange, Wiltz, Steinfort or Echternach to celebrate the end of the European Week of Sport together and enjoy a day full of discoveries, new encounters and sporting excitement.
